NABU conducts unauthorized investigation on the territory of Austria - Oleg Bakhmatyuk's lawyers

National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) started to conduct investigations of the Pisaruk-Bakhmatyuk case on Austrian territory without authorization of Austrian law enforcement agencies

NABU conducts unauthorized investigation…

Oleg Bakhmatyuk's lawyers stated this during a press conference at UNIAN, Depo.ua reports.

They noted that NABU carries out investigative actions without the involvement of Austrian law enforcement agencies.

"This is a gross interference in internal affairs of the Republic of Austria and threatens a serious diplomatic scandal for Ukraine," the defenders said.

It should be reminded that NABU opened a case about allegedly inappropriate use of the stabilization loan that was granted by the National Bank to VAB bank of Oleg Bakhmatyuk. However, the National Bank has denied these allegations, proving that the entire amount of refinancing, UAH 1.2 billion, went to the depositors.

It was also reported that international lenders can sue Ukraine in international arbitration over NABU's case against Bakhmatyuk. Expert analyses, NBU and deposits guarantee fund reports completely deny NABU's allegations.

Subsequently, it became known that NABU did not allow attorneys to access file cases and put political pressure on them.

Reference: On the evening of November 11, media reported that NABU staff had come to the office of one of Ukraine's largest banks, Raiffeisen Bank, to hold as the suspect the board chairman Alexander Pysaruk.

On November 12, it became known that Bakhmatyuk appealed to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky about NABU and GPU, which have resumed criminal investigation against VAB Bank.

He explained that NABU's suspicion was politically motivated and jeopardized the work of Ukrlandfarming Agro Holding, and also dismissed claims of the National Bank concerning UAH 29.3 billion debt to the state.

Former Minister of finance Examiner Oleksandr Shlapak reported that Bakhmatyuk had fought for VAB Bank to the last and was trying to contribute $ 200 million to save the bank.

It is also known that Business-Warta and Ukrainian Agrarian Club unions have appealed to President Zelensky to defend Bakhmatyuk's Ukrlandfarming.

On November 18, it was reported that the examination refutes NABU's charges.

Earlier, on November 15, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court ordered to release on bail the former first deputy of the National Bank, Oleksandr Pisaruk, for 5 million hryvnias.

Subsequently, it became known that Raiffeisen Bank would pledge Pysaruk and leave him in office.
